Lieutenant Mackenzie Free Downloads a court-martial to investigate the mutiny. Two midshipmen, Samuel Cromwell and Elisha Small, are found guilty of murder and sentenced to death. On December 11, 1842, Cromwell and Small are executed by hanging from the Somers' yardarm.
